BackupPilot for Synology NAS / download

Download BackupPilot for Synology NAS

Windows. 24 hours free with every function, then a licence key bound to your PC.

Windows

One installer for the demo and the full licence

Fill in your name and email in the form, and we send you a personal link to the installer. The same installer runs the 24-hour demo (one NAS, all features) and, with a key, the full licence. The user manual (PDF) is also available.

Licence

24 hours free, then a key bound to your PC

  1. 24-hour demo. Install and start: click DEMO 24 hrs in the licence window. Every function works, with one NAS, for 24 hours. The demo can be used once per computer.
  2. Activation key. Open Insert KEY, copy the machine fingerprint shown there, and send it to support@antennapilot.com or through the contact form. You receive a key for a number of months or a permanent one, for the number of NAS units you need.
  3. Keys are bound to the PC. A key works only on the computer whose fingerprint it was issued for and is not valid for other AntennaPilot products.

Without a valid key or demo the monitoring is paused: the dashboard, history and settings stay available, but the NAS units are not polled and no alarms are sent.

Clean software

No viruses, no ads, no hidden code

BackupPilot contains no viruses, no advertising, no trackers and no hidden code. It talks only to your NAS units and, once a day if you leave the update check on, to antennapilot.com to read a small version file. NAS addresses, passwords and history stay on your PC.

Windows may warn about a file that does not come from the Store. Let Microsoft Defender scan it: that is exactly what the check is for. If you want a second opinion, upload the installer to VirusTotal before running it.

Installing

Four steps on the monitoring PC

  1. Open the link from the email on the PC and download the installer. Because the program is new and not yet widely downloaded, Windows may show Windows protected your PC. Click More info, then Run anyway.
  2. Run the installer and start BackupPilot. Choose DEMO 24 hrs or paste your key.
  3. Open Settings > NAS units > Add, enter the name, host, port, monitoring account and password, then press Connect & detect. The model, DSM version and every backup source are read from the NAS.
  4. In Backup monitors tick the sources you want watched, set how often a backup must be confirmed and by what time of day. For a folder where other software writes backups, add it as a watched folder. In Notifications enter your e-mail address and choose Outlook or SMTP, then press Send test email. Save.

NAS

One account on the Synology NAS

Create a dedicated account for BackupPilot in DSM > Control Panel > User & Group, for example “monitor”. Do not enable 2-step verification on it, because BackupPilot logs in automatically at every refresh. Some data (storage, S.M.A.R.T., Hyper Backup task list, Cloud Sync, ShareSync) is only readable by members of “administrators”; add the account to that group for the full picture, or accept a reduced view. Recommended: allow the account only from the IP of the monitoring PC, and put that PC on the Auto Block allow list. For watched folders the account needs read permission on the folder.

Updates

Once a day, nothing is sent

BackupPilot reads a small version file from antennapilot.com once a day. A newer version appears in the toolbar; click it to download the installer. Your settings, history and licence are kept. The check can be switched off in Notifications.

Support

Need help?

Use Help > Report a bug / request support in the app, which prepares an e-mail with the version, licence state, NAS models and the last lines of the error log, or send a message with a short description and your DSM version.
